Don't do business in Taguig & Makati

I heard from the grapevine that Taguig is becoming notorious in their apparent "legal extortion" via city ordinance. Here are the seemingly abuses committed by Taguig Local Government:

1) The hiring of Taguig residents is must and if the establishments hired non-residents of Taguig, they have to pay the local government 700 per person. This is bullshit! What do you think of Taguig, a federal government? Even federal government would not poach on the prerogative of the investors. I have never seen such arrogance from the Tingas. Well, what do you expect from the "Tingas" in vernacular, dumi sila ng mga ngipin. They cause cavities. Maybe so, in their very own kingdom in Taguig.

Hoy, mga Ting na nyo. Hindi kayo forever dyan. Dati-rati nagmamakaawa kayong may mag invest dyan ngayon meron na binababoy nyo mga TINGA NYO!!! WALANG MGA UTANG NA LOOB. DAPAT SA INYO HINDI NA MANALO SA SUSUNOD NA ELEKSYON. MAS MASAHOL PA KAYO SA MAKATI.

2) I was also informed that another ordinance that mangles money from establishments is the checking of water in all the faucets. Mura lang naman, 300 pesos per faucet. Ting na nyo, ang kakapal nyo. If you would like to check the safety of the water flowing out from the faucet, please check the main source --- the Bonifacio Waters System. Nakakapikon kayo. Kundi kayo bobo (not checking the main source of the water), malamang mukhang mangingikil kayo.

I hope Senators Pia and Allan Cayetano would step into these abuses. My question as business consultant is this, is city ordinance absolute? Can one city or municipality come up with as many ordinaces as they want just to feed their fucking caprices and whims so that they can say na may nagawa sila? What about if the ordinances are oppressive such as the ones now being implemented in Taguig? What are the scope and limitations of these ordinances? Can DILG step on this? How about my dear colleagues in the media industry?

To be honest, few days ago one of my clients asked my help to look for a location in Taguig, The Fort area. sabi ko wag dun at duduguin sya.

If this continues, I will tell to my clients and prospective clients not to put their business in Taguig. This thought is counter to the direction of the government to entice investors. I can say the same thing in the Republic of Makati, marami din daw raket dyan. Hahahaha!

MR. SIMON “MONSI” SERRANO

Dear Mr. Serrano:

Contrary to your point of view, the City of Taguig is one of the most business friendly cities in the country today. We have the lowest tax rates for most of the industry sectors such as financial services and hospitality, and this is one of the reasons that businesses have been flocking to our city. The city is also rated highly in this year’s business competitiveness ranking where it was never included before.

The water fees you cited are part of the charges that many local governments include in their permitting fees. The reason for the ordinance is that water quality should be checked at the tap and not at the main water line, since it is at this point that the water is served to the customer.

The Citycard that was also mentioned in you letter is a local adoption of the Singapore foreign worker levy act. Our low tax rates are meant to bring in investors and businessmen, and in return we would like for them to hire local Taguig residents, so that the benefits of employment are past on to our residents. Not enforcing such an ordinance would mean that companies employing migrants would be passing on a social cost to us that many of them are not aware of. 700 pesos per annum is a small amount for bringing in executives, managers and professionals. However what we are trying to discourage are the thousands of construction workers, janitorial staff and the like hired from outside of Taguig that usually end up becoming our informal settlers, sending their children to our schools and placing an undue amount of pressure on an already overtaxed social service network.

These ordinances have been discussed with the members of the business council and the business community and they are in agreement with the City government that the stakeholders should participate more in city development. The underlying philosophy in the way the City of Taguig should develop is through partnership and involvement of all sectors, both public and private. This inclusive and collegial environment being cultivated and nurtured in Taguig is how we get things done.

As you yourself noted, the city has enacted ordinances that will ensure that funds generated go to the city’s coffers where it can be properly accounted for and disbursed responsibly. Rest assured that the City is firmly committed to providing the best living environment for our constituents and the best working conditions for our businessmen and our investors.

Very truly yours,

Executive Assistant
Office of the Mayor

Dear Ms. Pagkatipunan:

I’m so sorry for the late reply. I was out of the country and it’s only now that I have time to email back. Please see my response below...

(MY RESPONSE: This is illogical. It is just like saying that even if the main source of water is contaminated, the tap would yield clean water?!! Hellooooo… Where’s the logic here? You may ask your professor in logic if he would agree with this line of thought. The sad thing is, you can create any money making activities via city ordinances. You even further claim that this is being implemented in other cities or municipalities? This is BULLSHIT!)

(MY RESPONSE: Hahaha. I never thought that you treat your fellow Filipinos strangers or foreigners in their own native land. That Citycard is another BULLSHIT! Sure you can adopt the Singapore foreign worker levy act, but Taguig is not Singapore! Unless you would like to make it one. If you do, you’ll be a laughing stock to all other municipalities and cities.)

(MY RESPONSE: I’m so sorry to tell that you are lying to your teeth! You are telling me that the business community agreed on this kind of city ordinance? I don’t think so. Some people in the business community members (I will not divulge here for security reasons) approached me and intimated to me their disgust over such ordinances in Taguig which are not only oppressive but also incongruous to the thrust if the government to encourage investors in the Philippines. Pera-pera lang yan. That’s all what they see.)

(MY RESPONSE: Don’t claim that Taguig City is committed to providing the best living environment to your constituents. Many politicians have made such claims and even sworn to high heavens that they will serve their constituents. But the sad fact remains, ONCE THEY’RE SEATED, THEY FEEL THAT THEY ARE THE LORD of LORDS and KING of KINGS!!!! What a profanity!

Don’t deny that reality. The more you deny it, the more you do disservice to your constituents and also to those who invest in Taguig.)

Kawawang Juan, kawawang bayan.

More power to you!

We can't leverage forever our proficiency in English, because India, China and other "third world" countries have learned the importance of English as second language. They are now enrolled in various English courses that will develop their English proficiency.

The corruption is the most devastating plague that has beseiged our country.

In our present situation lawmakers, down to the LGU's has several controversial stories --- payolas that tinted for their being honorable. Haay.... the future of our children and grand children are dim.

Kudus to you!!!!

To Mr. Monsi,

How dare you say these words! Taga-taguig ba kayo???

See how hard it it to run a City like that. Heller? Just look at it, its changing na! And I believe, its getting better na po.

At least, that's good news. Unlike you wretch who did nothing but contradict but never worked hard for the betterment of this country.

Your opinion doesn't help but only affect negative to others.

Don't listen to these rubish!

Hi BNBR!

I don't really know who you are, but it seems to me that you're a headless chicken and spineless coward hiding in your initials!
Ha-ha-ha! Sorry for being nasty.

Since I want to be fair, I still posted your comment even if I will not look good with other readers with what you said. But who cares? Maybe the "care bears".

So, you call me rubbish? Thanks! People have spoken and expressed their concurrence with me and my opinion. I am not here to kiss ass, nor to please those who read my blog. Needless to say, I already have a caveat (disclaimer) in my prologue that whatever I have written here are my opinions the way I see things. So, you look at it in a different way, fine. I will respect you and your opinion.

You may call me in whatever name you wish but I will never cease to blog my opinion.

How sure are you that I never worked hard for the betterment of this country? That's what you think! Baka pakita ko ang ITR ko? Come and call me at 982-8888 or 0919-897-8877 for an appointment!

BNBR, who said na di ako nakakatulong sa bansa? It might just be a projection. I suggest, come up with your own blog and link with Taguig's in that way, you can blog your way till you drop and tell how beautiful Taguig is in your eyes.

Please read again my blog before you react. Be objective and don't be too emotional about it.

Lastly, don't be a headless chicken that keeps on "cackling".

I hope to meeting you soon! GOOD LUCK!Ü
